Environment, Safety & Security Subcommittee
The cruise industry operates to the highest safety and security standards and has always been committed to protecting the environment.
CLIA Europe strives for an EU regulatory environment that supports safe shipping operations and environmental protection, and that recognises the international dimension of the sector and the role played by the International Maritime Organisation. The Subcommittee also addresses operational environmental issues raised by CLIA Europe members and pursues these with the competent national and regional authorities.
CLIA Europe is member of the European Sustainable Shipping Forum (ESSF), established by the European Commission to discuss practical issues that could be encountered during the implementation process of the EU Sulphur Directive (2012/33/EU), in particular during the transition phase before the entry into force of the new standard.
